this house was designed to adapt to future floods - instead of raising the house and disconnecting it to the ground, the architect created a "flood-proof" ground floor space - using fibre cement wall cladding, removable ceiling tiles and other materials that can be disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled after the flood. while maintaining a traditional queenslander style upstairs - proudly expressing the original timber floor boards, doors and windows. the house has a harmonious blend of modern and traditional styles, using new technology to adapt to the queensland climate.
