a stay in tasmania - part 1 - hobart

I stayed in Hobart's historic Battery Point, that reminded me of a sleepy European town...

my first meal was at this lovely cafe, Jackman & McRoss, where the locals enjoyed a good catch up in its warm interiors.

Missus the cat welcomed me at my my hostel, Montacute Boutique Bunkhouse, a beautifully refurbished house with lots of character.

the interiors is comfortable and cosy, with warm furnishings and carefully arranged ornaments.

...with a view of the hilly backdrop...

I went for a stroll in Battery Point, discovering delightful gardens and stone houses.

the next day, I went to MONA via the ferry

hej hej Emelie!

yes we shared the ride with a cow... and sheep!

arriving at MONA

MONA - a combination of Scandinavian modern style,
Australian mining scene, Brutalist architecture and hilltop retreat ... a little over indulged in some ways but nevertheless an interesting place to visit.

this brave girl is feeding the food machine a 3 course meal, which will digest the food the exact same way as humans do, and "process" its meal out the other end ... let's just say the odour was very empowering.

so this is what goes on inside our bodies ...

Parliament Square

to sum up,
if you enjoy random "ruins"

cute houses built to block out wind and rain

lush greens

killer hills

spectacular blossoms

anything old

and of course, precious architectural gems

then definitely pay Hobart a visit
just don't forget your coat and umbrella!
